Annual Family Carnival
Another long running tradition is the Abington Lions Annual Carnival. This event is held each summer and features games, rides and amusements from Montana Brothers of Dunmore, PA. Many local Lions Clubs, vendors, and equipment displays provide a great evening of entertainment. This also is the clubs major fund raiser and all proceed are turned back into the community
High School Scholarships
Each year at least two local high school graduates
receive a $1000 scholarship. These scholarships
represent our support of educational excellence in
the Abingtons. Most of our scholarship recipents
graduate
Eye Glass Collection
Some of our members have traveled to Haiti and Latin America. When they go on these missions they take along eye glasses which are collected during the year and they are distributed to people who are in need.
Youth Sport Sponsorship
For many years the Abington Lions have been proud to sponsor the Little League, Abington Jr. Comets Football, and Abington Youth Basketball. In the early days of the Little League the club was instrumental in construction of the Little Leagues first field. The club has also constructed tennis courts and wading pools in
Holiday Coffee Breaks
Memorial Day, Fouth of July and Labor Day weekend the club sponsors coffee and treats for travelers along Interstate Route 81. It is a great way for us to great visiters to our region and you'd be suprised at all the Lion members we meet traveling during these holiday.
