Now,  this is where the gold pan comes in.  The goldpan is actually used  for the search of gold.  Once the gold is found, we then can remove the gold  by mechanical means using a device called a gold wheel.

If you look carefully in the picture the boys have found their first piece of gold.  So now we know, that the spot we have in the creek contains "Gold"

The "Want to be"  Gold Prospectors get a education in cleaning out a Sluice and removing the carpet with the concentrates.

The boys worked hard out there, they were in the mood for Soda and Hot Dogs  what ever happened  to a plate of beans?

The boys had enough concentrates to equal half of a five gallon container.

At the end of the day,  we had to take these concentrates home to work over a gold wheel, because the gold is very fine and "The Heavies" from the volcanic rock does not separate very well from fine gold in a pan.  what would consume hours can be separated,  in minutes with a machine.

Well after a hard day's work, the boys packed up their gear, and  are now ready for another prospecting trip.

After processing the concentrates over a gold wheel which took about a hour, here's the booty.
